When we deal with bad experiences and or trauma.

An invisible wound appears.

And what do we do with open wounds?

We clean the wound.

We disinfect.

We stitch it up.

We bandage.

It becomes a scar. But it is healed.

With unresolved pain.

We feel it when we are first cut. We find the hurt unbearable.

We don’t disinfect the wound because the thought of is too painful.

We bite through the pain when it’s stitched up.

And we are relieved when we are bandaged.

However, because we haven’t properly dealt with the full experience of healing and tried to avoid the pain.

The wound isn’t properly healed.

So when we think about the trauma the invisible scar still bleeds when poked and prodded.

To help relieve the pain and heal.

When the invisible wound hurts.

Understand and deal with the trauma.

It hurts because it’s an open wound.

Sit with the discomfort.

We feel the pain head-on. We disinfect the wound.

Make space for the trauma.

The pain can feel unbearable. Yet we still stitch the wound.

Regulate the feelings of discomfort

We bandage.

It will hurt temporarily, but because we’ve properly cleaned the wound, the pain will be less severe in the long run.

So now when we think of the trauma the wound doesn’t bleed when poked and prodded.

Not to say trauma ever leaves. But it’s a more secure and healed scar.

An invisible scar can be properly healed if space has been created.
